Yep forget USB 3.0 it looks like Intel might be rolling out their Light Peak optical cable interface as early as 2011. To give you an idea of how fast that is here's some easy numbers:

54 megabits per second - most home Wi-Fi
100 megabits per second - wired Ethernet
400 megabits per second - firewire
480 megabits per second - USB 2.0
1,000 megabits per second - wired Ethernet (gigabit adaptor)
1,600 megabits per second - firewire S1600
3,200 megabits per second - firewire S3200
5,000 megabits per second - USB 3.0
10,000 megabits per second - Light Peak optical interface

Apparently its going to max out at 100,000 megabits (100Gigabits) a second by the time we get to 2020.
