Ever wanted to run android apps on your computer? Well now you can via Bluestack's nifty little Android shell app, no virtual machine required. Its currently available now for  both Windows and OSX in its beta form. I reckon those used to running Android on their touch devices might feel a little hampered running it off a none touch/tablet based machine, but despite this I still found it to be pretty damn useful all the same. Success in actually running it was a mixed bag, for a start I had trouble getting the app to actually display anything when using it with an core2duo Toshiba machine with integrated Intel GPU. But having said that I didn't seem to have any problems with it at all whilst running it on another machine equipped with an Nvidia which ran pretty smoothly and fast all round. Although it ran very smoothly on the machine I actually managed to get it to go on, others have told me they got pretty slow performance out of it so they end user experience you'll get will be down to your particular system. With the spate of Windows 8 tablets hitting the market its not difficult to see why an app like this would make sense.

Other notable things about this app...

- You can actually link it with one or several Google/Gmail account in order to access the full Google play store and other google based services within the app.
