Corrupted Ableton projects "unknown compound stream type"

[Unknown Compound Stream Type]

This happens all too often in Ableton at the most inopportune times. Usually 2 or 3 times on each new version of live that I've used. But more often then not its accompanied with the notice of the saved live set having been opened in a newer version of Ableton live. The odd thing is that the corrupted saved set in question every time its happened has only ever been used in the one version of Ableton live and no other. It even happens without any use of any kind...

Having reverted back to Windows 7 for Ableton Digital Audio Workstation antics things weren't looking too optimistic with the gradual decline of windows 7 as the bed operating system on my audio machine since its release. Even all the DAW tweaking and system streamlining tips and tricks in the book known to man couldn't help its fall  into a stuttering and audio dropping mess anymore. Then on the off chance of testing it with a few different preview builds of Windows 8 it actually began to l...

Full SSD antics could potentially fix it all

I woke up Saturday morning back in the UK to find a damaged SSD drive that I'd been trying to RMA for over a year on the carpet next to my bed. There wasn't much I could do with it whilst I was staying in S.E.Asia, mainly because it would have cost me three times the price of the actual SSD itself just to actually RMA it back from Asia to Europe. The very sight of it just made me more physically fatigued, so I just rolled over thinking "I can't be arsed" and went back to sleep.

A couple of h...

Moving over to a 500GB hybrid Seagate momentus XT hybrid SSD…

So after trying W7 again for it to fail what else was there I haven't yet tried? Running it all from my hybrid SSD. There's a reason why I didn't want to do this, mainly because if it previously was able to work perfectly on a standard 7200RPM spinning platter hard drive under a higher system load, why could it now not function without any problems with an even lighter processor load having removed and deactivated a whole bunch of audio effects and plugins. This was the reason I was original...

Back to using the Z4 and Ableton Live 7 with Windows 7

Posted by Eksovichea Tito Hak on Monday, October 8, 2012, In : Operating systems

Sitting tight till the 26th was just not on the cards, especially after more recent bouts of testing with the pre-release build of 8 within the UK which seemed to turn out results that were disappointing to say the least. More to the point windows 8 release preview whilst testing it outside of the UK seemed to work without a single flaw on a standard 2.5 inch 7200RPM spinning platter hard drive for Ableton DAW purposes. During those tests in S.E.Asia not a single audio drop or pause occurred...
