The Ghost towns of inner Mongolia?!

I was in complete and utter awe from having come across a story written by a Darmon Richter over at the Bohemian blog, the nature of what was being described in how it was being spun was initially like something out of a fictional novel, like some sort of back story for the makings of some kind of strange futuristic wonder to be ogled at as some sort of forgotten lost city that was never completed in millennia to come. But this thing was...

Mixmag going nuts and maybe purposely stirring the dance music worlds pot again... (producers definitions change)

Posted by Eksovichea Tito Hak on Sunday, November 3, 2013 In : DJ stuff

The label of tech-house is a load of bollocks...

It looks like Mixmag are at it again, and what better way to stir the proverbial fire in the proverbial bellies of a significant portion of the dance music worlds people than to say some seemingly miss-informed things about tech-house music. Here's my sort of rant on it in response...

The boundaries of a so called tech house genre are so damn broad. In fact the last time I checked there are sounds from many genres that fall under the tech-house...

If this had been done 10 or 15 years ago I'd have maybe been excited...

In situations when there might not be any CD players, MP3 players or computers to use, I guess there always the good old vinyl on turntables. Sure a vinyl turntable is not likely to crash unless its duff and needs servicing, but ultimately all these stated means of playing and mixing music (including vinyl turntables) all require electricity to function as well as some sort of audio system to pump that sound that they produce out of. They would all be useless as part of a party soundtrack mak...

The average life expectancy is 80, how have you used your 698,880 hours so far?

The profound and apt thing about it? Its scarily slow and subtle but yet at the same time fast.

Now they know more about what and when you're looking at what?

Posted by Eksovichea Tito Hak on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 In : culture
There was once a time when people would build huge collections of albums full of photographs and shelves full of home movies. More often than not most would just end up in a dusty attic somewhere. The people who would often get to see the pictures and movies generally weren't interested whilst all the while more underhand archiving and surveillance went on via certain technologies built into their consumer goods unknown to the general consumer or via certain processes required for development...

Whats the deal with the glamorisation of "Rachet" culture and "twerking"? (...my take on it off the top of my head/without using Google)

Posted by Eksovichea Tito Hak on Thursday, August 15, 2013 In : culture

I think there might have been a little bit of over intelectualisation as to the reason for certain movements within popular culture which isn't necessarily a bad thing, although the conclusions as to why certain things happen might be a little off to my personal perception. Its very easy to read into a situation and attribute a whole bunch of other stuff as to the reasons for the causes for something that may not have been for why certain things happened to begin with.

Lets face it, we now liv...

2013 Khmer elections : an inspired youth, surprising opposition seat gains, unsurprising CPP win

With the elections done and dusted in Cambodia it was evident that the usual discontentment manifesting through increased open racism towards the Vietnamese was present amidst a heightened paranoia around the ballot boxes. Generally though it seems that anyone one who would side with the current Cambodian People's Party (CPP) government in power within Cambodia would be subject to racial abuse as if they were Vietnamese/working for the Vietnamese regardless of w...

Why is EDM more of a niche thing in the US compared to hip-hop?

Posted by Eksovichea Tito Hak on Wednesday, July 24, 2013 In : DJ stuff

I'm not exactly sure, but if I were to take an educated guess as an observer, I wouldn't put it down to a hip-hop message of urban oppression blighting a mass population that can be identified with in the purest sense as a general thing, especially in this day and age. There's no denying that hip-hop was once a pure expression of descent and disdain encapsulating much of everything that was wrong resulting from inner city urban oppression, deprivation and poverty for black communities within ...

Better presentation?

Posted by Eksovichea Tito Hak on Friday, May 24, 2013 In : Just a thought

So someone was saying there's a trend for kids in India to buy expensive DSLR's, take pictures and create websites with their names and watermarked names all over the pictures to then consider themselves professionals? I'm glad someone can afford expensive D-SLR's to start out with since I'm still working with a so called "entry level" mirrorless compact system for the moment. The last time I properly used an SLR camera was when they still used film rolls in them. But the question is, am I do...

"s" as an indicator of possession or plural

Posted by Eksovichea Tito Hak on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 In : English lessons
So recently I've been a bit lazy in pulling up the numerous erroneous corrections that someone seems to be regularly making to my blogs in thinking they're qualified. In my most recent post the word earth originally had an "s" after it which some fool decided to delete. Clearly who ever it is still is not qualified enough to be correcting my blog, and why they still persist I don't know. Within this context it's an indicator of possession, as in the orbit of the earth that belongs to to the e...
